NFL Free Agency: Where Will Big Name Quarterbacks Land?

As football free agency is starting to heat up, there are many questions as to where many top tier quarterbacks will play next season. While there is still a lot of time left in the off season, there have been many questions and a lot of speculations on where these players will sign this off season. Prominent free agents for this year include Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Teddy Bridgewater, Jamesis Winston, and Ryan Tannehill.

Tom Brady is one of the biggest questions of the off season. He has played his entire career with the New England Patriots, but there is speculation that he will be joining another team this next season. The top rumor is that Tom Brady will be joining the Los Angeles Chargers this off season. While this is just speculation, there has been some evidence that he will not be returning to the Patriots. There has been tension this season between him and coach / gm Bill Belichick. This rift has been growing with the ā€œfall of the dynastyā€ in New England as they did not reach the Super Bowl for the first time in a while.

Phillip Rivers, the quarterback of the Chargers, would be displaced by the arrival of Tom Brady so many people speculate that he will sign with the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have been looking for a replacement for Andrew Luck, who retired prior to the 2019 season. Philip Rivers is friends with head coach Frank Reich, so that might play a part in Rivers moving to Indianapolis.

Teddy Bridgewater is on the market after the resigning of Drew Brees by the Saints, so Teddy is looking for a new home where he can be the guy after being a backup the last few years. Bridgewater would fit in well with the Titans, who has been custom to quarterbacks that are mobile with Marcus Mariota leading the team until Ryan Tannehill took over the starting job midway through the year last year. Bridgewater would be coming into a high-powered offense that is set up for success with Derrick Henry at running back and AJ Brown out wide.

This would leave Ryan Tannehill looking for a new job. I think that he would fit well in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay has stated their frustrations with Jamesis Winston’s turnover problems, and would be looking for someone to come in and be able to throw the ball down the field like Tannehill is capable of doing well.

With the addition of Tannehill in Tampa Bay, and the departure of Tom Brady in New England, it’s possible that Jamesis Winston ends up in New England. While this seems a bit silly at first, it actually makes a lot of sense. New England runs a very safe offense that is not prone to turnovers, so if Jamesis can come in and be in a system where he does not turn the ball over, he could be set up to have a lot of success with someone like Julien Edelman.

While this is all speculation and guesswork, I am interested to see how the free agency pool shakes out this year with so many big-name quarterbacks ready to make a change. Who do you think everyone will sign with this off season?
